Helen M. Presson

March 29, 1936 – July 26, 2020

Helen M. Presson, 84, Rochester, and formerly of rural Akron and Paris, Tenn., passed away at 10:46 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2020, at her residence.

Helen was born on March 29, 1936, in Etowah, Ark., to the late John and Ardella Gurtrue (Trucks) Johnson.

She married Billy Gene Presson on June 13, 1953, in Corinth, Miss. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2001.

She was a homemaker and worked for Wen Products for 13 years. Helen attended Spring Creek Christian Church, Logansport. She was a member of the Swingin Dudes and Darlings Square Dance Club and a lifetime member of the NRA. She enjoyed canning, crossword puzzles and sewing. In the earlier years, she enjoyed traveling with her family and camping trips.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Nickell, Remington; two sons, Jeffery and wife Lucy Presson, Puryear, Tenn., and Douglas and Robyn Presson, Rochester; seven grandchildren, Shane, Joshua and Angelyn Nickell, Jeremy and Tyler Presson and Troy and Eric Ofinowicz; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Caleb and Molly Nickell; and a brother, Don Markcum, Lakeview, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Billy Gene Presson; one sister; three brothers; and companion Weldon “Pete” Conrad.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Jeffery Hayes officiating. For the health of all in attendance, the public is encouraged to wear masks. Burial will take place following the service in the Athens Cemetery. Visitation hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.

Benjamin A. Gentry Sr.

Benjamin A. Gentry Sr., 32, Rochester, died Friday at home.

Survivors include his wife, Clarissa; his children, Nachelle Gentry, Benjamin Gentry Jr. and Mayla Gentry; his parents, Helen and Jerry Weese, Rochester, and Perry and Ashley Gentry, Monterey; and his siblings, Samantha Blacketor, Rochester, Ashley Gentry, Rochester, Amanda Gentry, New Paris, Payton Gentry, Monterey, Jason Weese, Rochester, Jacob Weese, Rochester, Travis Gentry, Rochester, Josh Gentry, Huntington, Zechariah Weese, Rochester, Merle Stickler, Rochester, Anthony Gentry, Pennsylvania, and Aaron Gentry, Pennsylvania.

His celebration of life is 1 p.m. Thursday at Good Family Funeral Home. Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Carol A. Casey

Carol A. Casey, 76, Rochester, died Friday at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Survivors include her children, Jeanette Cook, Rochester, Cristina Casey, Akron, and Scott Casey, Fulton; and her siblings, Sandra Cauffman, Niles, Mich., Jennifer Williams, Rochester, Connie Swick, Silver Lake, Tina Malott, Rochester, Sara Thompson, Rochester, Bill Hecht, Kokomo, Alan Hecht, Mentone, Russell H. Hecht Jr., Niles, Mich., and Brian K. Hecht, Rochester.

Her celebration of life is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Good Family Funeral Home. Visitation is 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
