Cheers and hugs

Trent Odell shares a hug with a supporter inside the Fulton County Courthouse after learning Tuesday he had received the Republican nomination to become Rochester’s next mayor.

Cheers and applause erupted inside the Fulton County Courthouse Tuesday night when Trent Odell learned he received the Republican nomination to likely become Rochester’s next mayor.

It was a landslide victory for Odell, who defeated two-term incumbent Mayor Ted Denton by nearly 500 votes. He received 736 votes, or 75.33 percent of the total, to Denton’s 241, or 24.67 percent. The margin of victory was a surprise to both candidates.
