Marian Frances (Ream) Dawson, 96, passed away at 6:19 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Heritage Pointe Retirement Home, Warren.
Born Oct. 24, 1916, in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of Robert George and Florence Elizabeth (Diffenderfer) Ream.
She married Russell Edwin Dawson on Aug. 28, 1948, and he preceded her in death.
Marian graduated from Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, Ohio. She then attended Malone College in Canton, Ohio, graduating with a Bachelor of Theology degree. Continuing to pursue her educational goals, she then attended Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, Ill., graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and finally completed her schooling at Indiana University, Fort Wayne, where she received her Master of Science in secondary education. Now that her educational goals were achieved, she enjoyed teaching junior high and high school English and library science.
She is survived by her children, Russell Dawson Jr. and his wife Linda, Osceola, Robert Dawson and his wife Nancy, Vernon, Conn., and Mary (Robert) Dockter, Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Jennifer Eaton, Russell Dawson III, David Dawson, Justin Dawson, Evan Dawson, Ashley Dawson, Ian Dawson, Crystal Dockter and Shawn Dockter; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Dawson Sr.; and brothers, Rev. Thomas Ream and Robert Ream Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 in the Applegate Chapel at the Heritage Pointe Retirement Home, located at 801 N. Huntington, Warren.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the IOOF Cemetery, Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials to Heritage Pointe, 801 N. Huntington, Waren, and Family Life Care Hospice, 265 W. Water St., Berne.
McClain Funeral Home, Denver, has been entrusted with arrangements.
