Culver 'proud' of Jimtown performance, now to deal with streaking Falcons
Sports Editor, The Sentinel

5-2, 3-2 Northern State Conference

at John Glenn

6-1, 4-1

7:30 p.m.

Culver lost to Jimtown 21-14 last Friday and still haven't beaten the Jimmies since 1979. The loss dropped them out of the top 10 in the Class 1A poll.

Collin Stevens threw a touchdown a pass to Micah Budzinski, and Michael Salary threw a scoring pass to Zoe Bauer on a halfback option pass to tie the game with 2:56 left in the third quarter for the Cavaliers.

But Jimtown sophomore running back Tanner Adams ran for 186 yards, including a two-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter that broke a 14-14 tie.

"Our kids can be proud of the way that we played last week," Culver coach Andy Thomas said. "I don't want to say that we're happy, but we can be proud of it."

Next up is Class 3A, No. 10 John Glenn. The Falcons have shut out four of their last five opponents, including a 39-0 pasting of New Prairie last week.

On offense, the Falcons often utilize quarterback Tommy Knape to pass on the rollout. Tight end Charles Dreessen is a frequent target. But the main threat in John Glenn wing-T offense is running back Josh Anderson, who ran for 214 yards and five touchdowns against New Prairie.

"They are outstanding on both sides of the ball," Thomas said. "They have good players and tough kids who know how to play the game."

Thomas said the team is getting healthier, but running back-outside linebacker James Dulin is out the season.

"James is kind of an unsung guy, and he will be sorely missed," Thomas said.
