Mrs. Patricia Ann Costello, 61, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 1:54 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19. 2012, at her home.

Born on March 16, 1951, in Rochester's Woodlawn Hospital, Patricia Ann Durkes was the first-born daughter of James M. and Peggy Lebo Durkes. Growing up, she shared her childhood with three sisters, Linda, Sandy and Brenda, and one brother, Tim.

Patti, a proud Zebra, graduated with the class of 1969 from Rochester High School. She later graduated from Fort Wayne Beauty College with a degree in cosmetology.

On Nov. 20, 1970, Patti and Harold G. Costello were married in the First Baptist Church of Rochester. They enjoyed sharing life's adventures for nearly 42 years, settling down near the community of Grass Creek. Together, they brought into the world two handsome sons, Ryan and Cory. The family tree flourished over the years, with the added blessings of six grandchildren.

A devoted farmer's wife, Patti assisted Harold with the farming operation especially, during the planting and harvest seasons. She was also a 25-year veteran of the banking industry, beginning her career at Kewanna's Farmers & Merchants Bank and continuing on with the same company that is known today as First Financial, moving to the Rochester office. She capped a 25 year career, retiring in September of 2011. Patti was a member of the Metea Baptist Church, Moose and Elks Lodges and Crime Stoppers.

A collector of antiques and quilts, Patti joyfully decorated her home with country-themed accents. Each spring, she planted a large veggie garden and colorful flowers that bloomed throughout the summer. An avid golfer, her favorite course was Pond View, near Winamac.

Traveling to St. Croix, Jamaica, Hawaii and Estero, Fla., were adventures Patti enjoyed with Harold. They enjoyed the their grandchildren immensely, following their activities in church, school concerts and sporting activities.

Patti is lovingly remembered by her husband, Harold; two sons, Ryan Costello and wife Addie, of Mentone, and their children, Mackenzie Lynn, Mackaylie Beth and Malaynie Ryan, and Cory Costello and wife Stephanie, of Fayetteville, Ark., and their children, Cade Jameson, Jace Michael and Beck Garrett; her mother, Peggy Durkes, of Rochester;  three sisters, Linda Hudkins and husband Bob, of Rochester, Sandy Callahan and husband Larry, of Fowler, and Brenda Carlson, of Rochester; and one brother, Timothy Durkes and wife Helen, of Rochester.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Durkes, in 2003.

Services for Patricia Ann Costello will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester,  with Pastor Bill Cordes officiating.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.

Electronic expressions of sympathy may be made to her family at

Sorry to hear of our loss. I went to school RHS with Patti. I remember her being very quite and she had a great smile. Again my prayers go out to those who were touched by her existence.

Dear Harold and Family,
I'm so sorry to know you lost dear Patti. She was a great friend, always bringing produce into town when we lived at Kewanna. I'll never forget you and Patti planting the yellow tomatoes for Bill, even though you didn't like them, and bringing us your wonderful produce even after we moved to Winamac and Bill was less mobile.

Harold and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Like so many of us, she was a member of the F&M family and I enjoyed working with Patti for many years. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
