Barbara J. Oliver
April 14, 1931 - May 27, 2014

Barbara J. Oliver 83, Logansport, formerly of Rochester, passed away at 12:33 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Pleasant Escape, Logansport.

She was born on April 14, 1931, in Cass County, the daughter of Harold and Edna (Black) Eshelman. On Dec. 25, 1947, in Young America, she married Joseph M. Oliver. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2010.

Mrs. Oliver had worked for Hart Shaffner & Marx in Rochester for many years and had also worked at Caston schools in the late 1960s. She had been a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she had been active in the women's group. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing the organ and supporting Notre Dame athletics. Most of all, she enjoyed caring for her family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Hal and wife Susie Oliver, Logansport, Greg and wife Vicki Oliver, Denison, Texas, Phil and wife Cheryl Oliver, Twelve Mile, and John Oliver, Logansport; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Hoffman, Fort Wayne; a sister-in-law, Meta Jane Nelson, Logansport; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert Oliver, and sister, Jody Patty.

Funeral service is to be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. Scott Halterman officiating. Friends may call from noon-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton Baptist Temple, Fulton, Indiana.
