Oscar F. McCloughan
July 14, 1944 - May 9, 2014
Oscar F. McCloughan, 69, rural Akron, passed away at 12:01 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at his residence after being in failing health for the last five weeks.
Oscar was born on July 14, 1944, in Rochester, to Maynard "Hap" and Josephine (Hopkins) McCloughan. On Jan. 11, 1964, in Burket, he married Betty J. Holloway.
He retired seven years ago from Wabash Alloys, Wabash, after working there for over 20 years as a truck driver. He enjoyed horses, fishing, rebuilding cars, woodworking, landscaping and gardening, baking and most of all his family. Oscar along with his wife invested their time building a beautiful home since 1996 that represented their love of nature and life. He attended the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty McCloughan, Akron; four daughters, Shelly and husband Bryan Sausaman, Yellow Creek Lake, Diane and husband Dennis Lance, Lukens Lake, Sue and husband Troy Hoffman, Silver Lake, and Lisa McCloughan, Laketon; five grandchildren, Derek and Jason Sausaman, and Chelsea, Jade and Noah Hoffman; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte and husband Elmon Bays, Silver Lake; and a special brother, Tom and wife Bonnie Holloway, Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marie Hollon and Joyce Overlander.
His funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Butch Troke officiating. Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Hartzler Funeral Home.
