March 24, 1994 - Feb. 18, 2014

Joseph Michael Shidler, 19, Silver Lake, and formerly of Rochester, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on March 24, 1994, in Winamac, the son of Chad Shidler and Angie (Arndt) McNees.

Joe was a 2012 graduate of Rochester High School. He was part owner with his brother of What a Look Lawn Care Service. He had been a member of the Fulton County 4-H, Relay for Life and had attended The Cross Church. Joe dearly enjoyed getting together with his family and fixing anything that needed repaired. He was first to take on the work. He was a self-proclaimed collector of various interests which he took very seriously. He loved old cars and going to the classic car shows. He took great pride in his vintage truck and his newer one. He loved tinkering with his truck.

In the summer, fishing was his hobby. He had the opportunity to meet Chip Foose in person and spend vacation with his family in California. He enjoyed his trip to New York as part of the Sunshine Kids Organization in July 2012. He was the one that kept the family laughing and he loved his two nieces so very much.

Survivors include his mother and stepdad, Angie and Keith McNees, Silver Lake, and father and stepmom, Chad and Lisa Shidler, Rochester; brother Dustin A. and wife Amanda Shidler, Rochester; sister Lacey N. Shidler, Silver Lake, and fiance Tim Nance, Laketon; nieces Cady Shidler, Silver Lake, and Olivia Shidler, Rochester; stepsisters, Malli Stidham, Rochester, Carolyn McNees, Warsaw, and Helen Balchunas and husband Eddy and their children Noah and Riland, Culver; stepbrothers, Wyatt Stidham, Virgil Stidham, and Morgan Stidham, all of Rochester, and Dakota McNees, Warsaw; grandparents, Charlotte and Robert Massey, Rochester, Les Arndt, Rochester, and Lorelei Duca, Rochester; stepgrandparentsa Bert and Norma Cramer, Culver; and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Michael Shidler; great-grandparents Joe and Betty Singleton and Edna and Woodrow Shidler; and stepgrandmother Mary McNees Sturgill.
