Franklin S. Johnson, 93, Logansport, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Born April 11, 1920, in Kouts, he was the son of the late Orville S. and Marie E. (Vernon) Johnson. On June 29, 1942, in Cass County, he was married to Juanita L. Johnson. She preceded him in death six years ago to the day, Feb. 8, 2008.

Frank was a graduate of Royal Center High School. He served his community as a fireman for the Logansport Fire Department, retiring in 1968 after 25 years with the department. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living retiree of the LFD.

From 1968-1974 he worked for the Cass County Sheriff's Department serving as interim sheriff. He was proud to be a member of the Indiana Sheriff's Association.

A member of Logansport's Tipton Masonic Lodge, Frank also belonged to the Scottish Rite Valley in Fort Wayne. He was a member and past president of the Logansport Shrine Club. Frank was a past Exhaulted Ruler of the Logansport Elks Lodge No. 66.

Frank loved to golf. In earlier years he was an avid bowler as well.

Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Johnson Dunnuck and her husband James, Peru; one son, Richard F. Johnson, Marion; one sister, Mary Jane Ford, Logansport; five grandchildren including grandson Timothy Parmeter, Texas and granddaughter Tara Parmeter Seuferer and her husband Scott, Rochester; and four great-grandchildren, Jared, Jacob, Jenna and Joshua Seuferer.

He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Allen Johnson; one grandson, Ryan Wrigley Parmeter; and one sister, Ruth Fulmer.

A funeral service will be at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Chuck Compton officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. The Logansport Fire Department Honor Guard will participate with the funeral procession passing by the Central Station for the "Last Alarm."

Friends will be received 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at the Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, where a Shrine processional tribute will take place at 6:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Shriners Hospitals for Children or Calvary Presbyterian Church.
