Francis J. "Pat" Tarter, 84, Rochester, formerly of Akron, died at 6:13 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at her residence.
Pat was born on May 29, 1929, in Wabash, to C.G. and Lerrenia (Ryall) Lehman. She was married on Oct. 5, 1948, in Greenfield, to Fred O. Tarter, who preceded Jan. 23, 1992.
Pat worked for Controls of North Manchester and Chamberlain Products of Akron, as well as being a homemaker. She attended the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church of Akron. Pat loved NASCAR and her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles.
Survivors include her son, Edward and wife Kristi Tarter, Denver; daughters, Sheila and husband Randy Runkle, Macy, Sherry Tarter, Rochester, Sandy and husband Tom Smith, Elkhart, and Shelly and husband Richard Fry, Akron; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pat was preceded in death by her son, Fred Chris Tarter, who passed Nov. 28, 2003; daughter-in-law, Shelly Hile Tarter, who passed Feb. 12, 1991; special friend, Frances Bowyer, who passed in 2007; and stepmother, Evelyn Younglove Lehman.
Funeral service is at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be at Gaerte Cemetery, Macy; Visitation is from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
