Jun. 21, 1928 - Dec. 8, 2013

Alberta Colty 85, Rochester, died at 1:33 p.m. Sunday Dec. 8, 2013, at her residence.

Alberta was born on June 21, 1928 in Holyoke, Mass., the daughter of Walter and Mary (Kawecki) Kaminski. On Aug. 13, 1951, in Connecticut, she married Norman Colty. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1986.

Mrs. Colty, along with her husband, owned and operated the Rochester Casket Company. Later in life she worked as a Home Health Care Provider.

Alberta attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of the Welcome Wagon, Rebekah Lodge and active at the Community Resource Center. In her spare time she was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and loved to can produce. Sports was another passion of hers, especially following the Boston Red Sox and the University of Notre Dame.

Survivors include her sisters, Maxine and husband Gaylen Benson, Rio Rancho, N.M.; Patsy and husband Donald Arnett, Bowling Green, Kent.; Mary LaLonde, Corrales, N.M.; and Connie and husband Michael Taylor, Goshen; a brother, Karl and wife Barbara Ferret, Northhampton, Mass.; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Davies, and nephew, Robert LaLonde, in 2013.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, with the Rev. Jason See officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Community Resource Center. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana.
