Sept. 14, 1930 - Oct. 8, 2013

Wanda Marie (Reiber) Meek, 83, recently residing in Missoula, Mont., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. She was born Sept. 14, 1930, in New Castle, Pa. to Clarence William and Pansy Marie (Bales) Reiber, and she graduated from high school there in 1948. She attended college at God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio and also took some nursing training.

On May 30, 1952, she married Emmett Meek at his parents' home in Rochester. A singer and accordion player, she assisted her husband in pastoring churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, Missouri, and Illinois until they retired to Rochester, where they resided until November 2010 when they moved to Missoula to be near family.

Wanda had a wide range of interests and occupations across the years and in various cities. She taught school, was a nursing assistant and worked in retail. She loved singing and playing her accordion, and she was a good seamstress. Given to hospitality, she entertained young and old at her table where they enjoyed a warm welcome and her great sense of humor. She was an interesting speaker and often spoke in churches and taught religious education. She loved being with her family.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Emmett Meek; her parents, Clarence and Pansy Reiber; and four brothers, William, Donald, James, and Thomas Reiber; and a grandson, Aaron Heath Schaper.

Survivors include one son, Pastor Jon (Miriam) Meek of Missoula, Mont.; two daughters, Ruth (Arthur) Schaper of Defiance, Mo., and Mary (Don) Spiker of Wentzville, Mo.; one brother, Richard (Sandra) Reiber of New Castle, Pa., and one sister, Mary (Richard) Beck, of New Castle, Pa.; six grandchildren; as well as great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Services will be on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Rochester.
