Mrs. Anita J. Eshelman, of Rochester, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at her home.

On Sept. 28, 1933, Anita June Keith, was born in Hornbeak, Tenn., the precious daughter of Robert Russell and Ernestine (Rogers) Keith.

In May of 1951, with great Zebra pride, Anita graduated from Rochester High School.

John E. Eshelman and Anita were married on Jan. 10, 1954, at the former Trinity Evangelical United Brethren Church of Fulton County. Their union of over 53 years produced five wonderful children, Jim, Dennis, Karen, Brian and Brett. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of 10 grandchildren.

Devoted to caring for those in need of specialized health care, Anita embarked on a career that spanned over three decades. She began her career in 1973 with Bill and Helen Miller at Rochester's Canterbury Manor. After her family was raised, Anita returned to school and pursued her associate's degree as a licensed practical nurse from the Kokomo School of Practical Nursing. She achieved her dream in 1987. Anita continued to work at Hickory Creek for 17 years, but also served stints at Miller's Merry Manor in Culver and Plymouth. In 2007, she hung up her blood pressure cuff and stethoscope for the last time, retiring from Life Care Center of Rochester.

Anita is lovingly remembered by her five children, James A. Eshelman and companion Marion DeSio, of Los Angeles, Calif., Dennis K. Eshelman and wife Frances, of Elwood, Karen Eshelman and companion Jeff Burnette, of Rochester, Brian A. Eshelman and wife E-Fon, of Houston, Texas, and  Brett D. Eshelman and wife Peggy, of Peru; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her feline companion, Savannah, a Siamese; and canine companions, Jill, the boxer-pit bull blend and Willie, the lab-pit mix.

Preceding Anita in death were her parents; and beloved husband, John, on Oct. 4, 2007.

A celebration of the life of Anita will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, in the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or the American Diabetes Association.

Online expressions of sympathy may be made to her family at www.goodfamilyfh.com.
