Paulanna Y. Kirtley

Paulanna Y. "Pepper" Kirtley, 94, formerly of Churubusco, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, in Abilene, Texas.
Born in Rochester, she graduated from Huntington High School, attended Florida Southern University and IPFW.
Along with her husband, she was co-publisher of the Tri County Truth in Churubusco for 35 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Churubusco Untied Methodist Church, was past secretary of the Churubusco Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Churubusco Public Library board for 15 years. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Churubusco Chamber of Commerce in 1991, was honorary parade marshal of Turtle Days in 1997, and also wrote the column "Salt and Pepper" for Columbia City Post & Mail for several years.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathy (Joseph) Aldridge, of Abilene, Texas; granddaughter Alison (Neil) Sengupta, of Columbia, S.C.; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Kris and Bela.
Her husband James H. Kirtley died in 1984. Also deceased are her parents Paul S. and Catherine (Clarey) Blacketor.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday in Churubusco United Methodist Church, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Corinne Boruff-Stucker will officiate.
Calling is also 4-8 p.m. Monday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco.
Burial will be in Eel River Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made to the church or Churubusco Public Library.
