David Thompson

David L. Thompson, 73, Rochester, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on May 3, 1940, in Rochester, the son of Arthur and Helen (Tobey) Thompson.

On Dec. 10, 1961, he married Patricia Overlander. On May 10, 1979, in Rochester, he married Saralie Stephen; she preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 2005.

Mr. Thompson had worked for 31 years at Sealed Power and had worked at Quick Lanes, both of Rochester. He also worked part time from his residence as a tool and die maker.

He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge, all of Rochester. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, bird watching and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his fiance, Patty Johnson, Rochester; children, Tami and husband Tom Holloway, Rick and wife Jennifer Thompson and Christopher and wife Kelli Hooks, all of Rochester; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat and husband Bill Kingery, Fulton, and Lorraine and husband Larry Norman, Akron; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Thompson; and sisters, Joan Hudkins and Donna Bowyer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Jason See officiating.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Fulton County, American Cancer Society or the American Legion.

I am so sorry for the loss of "Grandpa Thompson". He was a really great guy. I remember Brittlyn and I spending our summers over at his house in the swimming pool. We always had so much fun. My thoughts and prayers are will you all.
