Alice Carr

Alice Jean Carr, 87, Rochester, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1924, in Rochester, the daughter of Emerson and Helen (Osborne) Zimmerman. On Sept. 4, 1946, she married Westel F. Carr in Rochester. He preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 2001.

Mrs. Carr had been a homemaker. She was a member of the Community United Presbyterian Church, Rochester, and former member of the Lake Manitou Yacht Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed sailing their sailboat, The WesWind, and loved to cook and feed her family.

Prior to her husband's passing, they spent much time traveling the United States, including Alaska, in their fifth wheel trailer. They particularly enjoyed all the national parks across the United States.

Survivors include her daughters, Nedra Jean Wilson Coplen and husband William Coplen, Rochester, Christina and husband Doug Baxter, Rochester; son, Fred E. Carr, Rochester; and grandchildren, Wendy and husband Jeff Zent, Andi and husband Chris Lee, Michelle Wilson, and Chad Baxter, all of Rochester, Josh Baxter, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Emily Dallege, Tipton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Nedra Lou Zimmerman, in 2011 and son-in-law, Tom Wilson, in 2006.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Reverend Maurice Grindle officiating.

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Yosemite National Park through the funeral home.

I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing ~ I'll always remember the fun we had in the neighborhood! Your mom was great! My heart goes out to each and everyone one of you!
