Evelyn Schipper

Evelyn Glee Schipper, 86, Blair Ridge of Peru, and formerly of Akron, went to be with her heavenly father at 7:25 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.

She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Miami County, to parents Elmer and Addie Glee (Butt) Fites.

Reverend Golden joined Evelyn and Roy E. Schipper in marriage on March 3, 1946, in her home. Roy preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1995.

Evelyn was a homemaker and a farmer's wife. Also she was a school bus driver for more than 25 years for Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation.

She was a 1944 graduate of Gilead High School. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Roann. Evelyn was also a seamstress and loved to play the piano and the organ.

Survivors include two daughters, Jane and husband Dave Haynes, Akron, and Janet and husband Mike Gonsalves, Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; two sons, Paul E. and wife Diane Schipper, Kokomo, and Randal E. and wife Doris Schipper, Roann; nine grandchildren, Aaron and Evan Schipper, Amy Weaver, Troy Schipper, Rebecca Bolinger, Travis and Nolan Haynes, Derek Haynes and Brook Betten; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Weirick, Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Addie Fites; husband, Roy E. Schipper; three sisters, Ruth Bammerlin, Grace Waechter, and Normalene Wagner; three brothers, Ralph Fites, Paul Fites and James Fites.

Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Reverend Wayne Balmer officiating.

Visitation is 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church or the American Red Cross.
