Geraldine Murphy, 86, Logansport, formerly of the Akron and Mentone areas, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at her daughter Sharon's residence.

She was born Jan. 20, 1926 in Silver Lake to Arthur and Ruth (Kline) Bergk.

On July 22, 1944 she married Lawrence H. Murphy in Wabash. He preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1978. She re-married to James Earl Murphy Sr. on Feb. 14, 1993. He preceded her in death March 2, 2006.

As a homemaker, Geraldine loved gardening, crocheting, cooking and going to garage sales. She loved all kinds of music.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Sue and husband Al W. Buttice, Camden and Sharon A. and husband John Hughes, Logansport; two stepsons, Bill (Buck) and wife Cathy Murphy and Jim and wife Judy Murphy; one stepdaughter, Alice and husband Max Helvey; three grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Bergk, Wabash and Hughie Lieby, Peru; and one sister, Polly Arwood, Mishawaka.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ron Buttice; two brothers, Roy and Edward Bergk; a sister, Irene Woodward; an infant sibling; and two stepsons, Mac and Ben Murphy.

Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron with Pastor Thomas Craig officiating.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Contributions are open to the donor's choice.
