Donna L. Leavell

Sept. 17, 1924 - Aug. 7, 2012

Donna L. Leavell, 87, Sunrise Beach, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Aug, 7, 2012, at the Laurie Care Center in Laurie, Mo. She was born Sept. 17, 1924 in Rochester, to the late Mark and Carrie Wales Sixbey.

On Sept. 25, 1942, in Fulton, she was united in marriage to Paul Leavell, who survives at home.

Donna was a member of the Fulton Baptist Church in Indiana. She was active in Cass County 4-H for 20 years. Donna was a Past Worthy Matron for the Fulton Eastern Star Chapter. She was one of the founding members and a Worthy Advisor for the Rainbow Girls in Fulton.

She loved flower gardening. Her hard work paid off when she was awarded, "Garden of the Month" by the Lake Bloomers. She also enjoyed painting landscapes and stills.

In addition to her husband, Paul, she is survived by her daughter, Connie Hutchens and husband Richard of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; her grandson, Grant Hutchens and wife Pam of Shawnee, Kan.; her great-grandchildren, Jace and Mia Hutchens of Shawnee, Kan.; her brothers, Robert Sixbey of Rochester, and Dr. M.D. Sixbey of Chili; her sister, Patsy Evans of Kewanna; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Sixbey.

A celebration of Donna's life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach, Mo. Chapel with Pastor Martin Gipe officiating.

Interment will be held at a later date in Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Logansport.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Laurie Care Center or Hospice Compassus.
