Alvin A. Ramirez

March 25, 1945 - July 16, 2012

Alvin A. Ramirez, 67, Mentone, died at 4:47 p.m. Monday at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born March 25, 1945, to Gabe Ramirez and Irene Jabloskzi in Chicago. On May 29, 1977, he married Virginia Ramirez in Chicago. She preceded him Nov. 12, 2010.

Alvin was employed at AM General Hummer Plant in South Bend. Alvin enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was a three time cancer survivor.

Survivors include a daughter, Dawn and husband Cory Bettison, Rochester; a son, Sean Ramirez, Mentone; three grandchildren, Bobbie Jo and D.J. Looker, Rochester, and Jasmine Parker, England; a brother, Richard Ramirez, South Bend; a sister, Barbara, Calumet City, Ill.; five nieces, Estee and husband Carl Cummings, Cathy Golz, Cindy Ramirez, Anne Ramirez, and Kathy Ramirez; two nephews, Harold Ramirez, and Wayne and wife Jennifer Ramirez; four great-nieces, Desiree and husband Chris Tomasone, Hope and husband Joey D'Alessio, Tracy McDonnell and Anna O'Hara; a great-nephew, Zackary Garcia; five great-great-nephews, Nino, Evan, Giovanni, Shane and Gabe; and two great-great-nieces, Hannah and Mia Bella.

Preceding Alvin in death were his parents; wife, Ginney; and brothers, Tom and Bill Ramirez.

Per Alvin's final wishes, his body was donated to IU Medical Center cancer research and study.

The family hosts a memorial at Potato Creek State Park at 11 a.m. Aug. 4.
