This Week's Poll
Immigration has been a prominent topic this summer. Thousands of youth have made their way from Central America across our borders without their parents. This has overcrowded facilities and angered neighbors. How would you like to see our lawmakers respond?

Please select one:
1. Seal off the border at any cost. Build a fence and send in troops. Deport all illegal aliens. Any nation that can't control its borders is in grave peril.
2. No opinion.
3. Extend a little Christian charity to these kids. They are fleeing violent gangs and drugs. America ought to be big enough to take in more unfortunate immigrants.

This Week's Poll
Rioting in suburban St. Louis this week generated discussion of police procedures. The appearance of officers wearing full battle regalia combat boots, helmets, assault rifles, pads, shields and snarling dogs was said to be inflammatory and toned down somewhat when the state police took over. What do you think about police attire?

Please select one:
1. Cops ought to wear whatever they need to be safe. I wouldn't want to wade into an angry mob without all the protection I could get.
2. No opinion.
3. Cops need to find middle ground between being protected and aggravating explosive situations. Appearance is part of that. Rock throwing teenagers are not going to be soothed by armored strangers toting assault rifles.
