Fulton County Clerk Letty McKee ordered 18,765 ballots for Tuesday's primary election.
With tight races for president and governor on the Democratic Party's ballot, she ordered 25 percent more Democrat ballots than last year. In 2004, there were 2,710 votes cast in Fulton County's primary, and 8,811 in the general election.
There are 44 different ballots in the county, McKee said.
Each precinct has two basic ballots - Republican and Democrat - and two other basic ballots for voters who are age 17 and will turn age 18 before the November election.
Some Fulton County townships will elect school board members Tuesday.
Henry and Newcastle township residents will elect Tippecanoe Valley school board members.
Residents of Liberty and Wayne townships will elect Caston school board members.
Two of three Union Township school districts have elections. Some voters will have the choice of Republican or Democrat ballot with Caston included, others Democrat or Republican with Winamac included. Others - who live in Rochester schools district - choose between basic Republican or Democratic ballots, plus there's a basic ballot for 17-year-olds. That's eight ballots for one township, McKee noted.
For the 17-year-olds, she said, she ordered 10 ballots for each precinct.
McKee hopes she ordered enough ballots.
"We'd really like people to use the touch screens," she said. That reduces the cost of paper ballots and subsequent burden on the taxpayers.
