    GIRLS GOLF
Nerves got the best of Rochester girls golfer Renae Bickle against Tippecanoe Valley Thursday, but it didn’t prevent her from sharing medalist honors with Tippecanoe Valley’s Makayla Sandbakken, and it didn’t prevent RHS from beating Valley 218-249 at Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek.

Both teams call Mill Creek home, and both teams celebrated senior night after the match. Both teams will be part of the 11-team field at the Warsaw sectional at Stonehenge Golf Club in Winona Lake Saturday. Both teams will tee off from No. 10 at 9 a.m.

    North Miami
    3-1, 2-0 TRC South
    at Rochester
    4-0, 1-0 TRC North
    7 p.m.

So who has the advantage when North Miami plays Rochester? Is it North Miami, whose coach Joe Grant knows the Zebra personnel so well because he was the RHS coach last year? Or is it the Zebras, who defended against Grant’s unique spread option offense in practice every day last year?
RHS coach Brian Hooker said Grant knows RHS’ players better than the RHS coaches know North Miami’s players, but he said “it’s not that big of a deal.”

    Rochester def. Plymouth 25-20, 25-18, 25-15

The Rochester volleyball team was tied with Plymouth 20-20 in game 1 of their match at the RHS gym Tuesday when the next five points might have symbolized what the rest of the night was going to be like.

Maddy Sailors sent back a Plymouth attack for a stuff block. Grace Pfeiffer dumped a tip into the deep right corner to make it 22-20. Kori Rouch sent a serve into the deep corner that a Plymouth player misplayed to make it 23-20. An Alivia Riegle stuff block made it 24-20. And then Rouch followed with a clean ace that caught the line.
