Mr. Robert Vardaman Sr., 77, Rochester, passed away at 5:12 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at his residence.
On July 6, 1940, in La Porte, Robert was born to Jerry and Mildred Hatfield Vardaman.
Answering the call of patriotism, Robert joined the U.S. Marine Corps.  As a private first class, he was honorably discharged in 1960.
Robert and Pauline E. Brooks were married on Oct. 14, 1960, in Michigan City. Their union of 57 years produced a daughter and three sons. Sadly, Pauline passed away on Oct. 9, 2017.
As a plant manager, Robert worked for Versatile Tool and Die of Elkhart for many years. He was a member of the American Legion. Enjoying video games and working outside were great ways for him to relax.
Robert is lovingly remembered by a daughter, Carla Reynolds and husband Kenneth, Rochester; two sons, Robert Vardaman Jr. and companion Judy, Michigan City, and Jerry A. Vardaman and companion Ashley, Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Donald Lee Christensen Jr., Ronald Eugene Vardaman Jr., Emily Ann Burkholder, and Hunter Andrew Wyatt Vardaman; brother Jim Vardaman, La Porte; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a son, Ronald Eugene Vardaman Sr.
A private family service was in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Interment will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery.
